final photos

Done!
Now is the space ready for some exhibition! It is cleaned of any previous art traces. Just ours, mine and Niina's are left.

last time and week longer

It was Friday. Exhibition was suppose to end this Sunday. We went to Nitra in the morning but needed to be back in the late afternoon for another opening. I woke up early, so we got to the station in time for the 9 o’clock bus. I was tired already and sleepy. One coffee and little cake in the bus were great help.
We were walking in Nitra to the gallery and talking about all previous times. This is the last time, the valuation is needed. Happy to end it but on the other side unhappy about the end of the exhibition. But it was hard. Was hard to come here almost every week and later at the end more than twice a week. Spending time here. Working. Physical work. Was difficult.
But we were here. Again.
Balance.
Entrance room cleaned, painted and empty.
Storage room cleaned, painted and empty.
White room needed one more layer of white paint.
Sand room cleaned, painted and empty (except the black machine parts).
Playroom cleaned, painted and empty (as the first room).
Photoroom: we took away the photos and cleaned it and painted.
Explanation room: I was finishing the walls, started to paint and Niina finished it.
There was installing of another exhibition in Nitra, so we met Omar, the curator, and Patrik, the artist. When we finished, we went for lunch together. We asked Omar to make some photo for us of dried white rooms. Since now it was fresh and there was no chance of having final pictures today. While talking we found out that the next exhibition would be only in two weeks and for us it would be interesting to leave the gallery open for public in this shape. So we got the chance to prolong the exhibition. It will end on 16th of November.
So people have more time to “see” it. See what we want them to see.

after work

After work. Work
Because on Sunday we did not have enough time, we had to come on Tuesday after work as well. I took the bus at one pm. Niina came too.
We talked in the bus about stuff. We could stay long so we planned to take the last bus back to Bratislava after 9 pm. Great! Enough time to finish the exhibition. Also the transport was planned on Wednesday morning, so it would be nice if they really take all the things and materials we did not want there anymore.
We arranged the transport, ate, had coffee and started to work. More cleaning, repairing, moving. It was tiring. After many hours I had enough, was tired after all day work and now second phase in Nitra. We finished and walked to the station. We sat there in the pub waiting for the bus. Tired, exhausted but happy. Exhibition is almost done. The bus was late. I almost missed my bus home in Bratislava. But lucky me. I got there ok.

hangover day

Sunday in Nitra.
Of course I did not feel good. Niina came to our place and I got ready. Filip was driving us to Nitra, he went for the ice-hockey game. At least that was easy. One stop in Hornbach to buy needed material and we did hit the road.
We got there in the afternoon and gallery was open that day only until six in the evening. We worked, we cleaned the space. I repaired the floors with concrete and Niina was painting walls. We also prepared the left over materials for transport to Bratislava. We moved them to the entrance room. We wanted to have gallery cleaned and empty already before the end of exhibition. Leave people in amazement. Where is art? Where are the art-pieces that suppose to be in the gallery?
No, it needed to be empty.
Now only the materials we will be still in need for were left in the exhibition space. We did as much as we could. Since we did not have much time it was not much. We even did not have time to eat. We left at six pm and went for nice dinner in the restaurant not so far from the gallery.

visiting Nitra

We decided to come to Nitra and also discover the city little bit. I only know the bus station, train station, centre and gallery. So here we come. On Friday we arrived in the afternoon. I was first. Niina missed the bus and we left without her.

I started to work. It was different, to be alone in the gallery. Waiting if any visitors come. I perceived the changes from the last time. We already had one room empty and white. It just needed little paint on the wall and it was considered finished, in the last stage, in the shape we wanted all the parts to be before the end of exhibition.
So playground – modeling table were gone.
I put the photos on from the previous stages in the photoroom. It started to fill. You could see the differences in the visual of the particular spaces.
I started to work in the entrance room, which needed a lot of wall and floor repairing. Concrete in the floor holes, done by some artist. We erased his signature. And slowly repaired the walls with the wall material and then white paint. We wanted it white, so if you enter the gallery, you see the emptiness, the lack of art.
Niina came. Sand cakes started to move. Through the white box to the explanation room, which started to be also the storage for the material now. And the kitchen/sand cake room was cleaned out as well. Only the black machines which are part of it, stayed there. In the White box the objects were moved and some removed. Also the names disappeared in sand room, white box and simulacrum. The only two rooms with names were photoroom and explanation/treasure room.
The trash from trash room was removed last time and now it was becoming more white as well. The colors from walls vanished. Also the letter and big holes. Only the last wall of which we liked the pattern stayed the same, untouched. For now. But most of the material was moved in here. From the storage space, where only a little was left.
We left in the evening, tired. We went for a beer and waited for our friends to pick us up. They came in few minutes and we continued to their place, where we left our stuff and continued to the party in the kindergarten. Funny. Unexpected. We talked with couples which were there much longer. But I was really tired and sleepy. We left late, even if we wanted to go for one glass. Heh. Like always. We continued to the centre, or to the bar street and found one. We were in the same clothes as we left the gallery with two friends. All the people in the bar were nicely dressed of course it was Friday night. Niina order pinacolada about which we were talking earlier in the day. Was ok, nothing special.
When finished, I and my friend, we went home and Niina continued the party with Daniel. We went to sleep immediately. I was dreaming about some ugly sound and it was my phone. Niina was downstairs and I needed to pick her up. Uff. Bad.
We woke up not so late and stayed in the bed. Barbora made us breakfast, cake, she baked for us and tea and coffee. We talked. Also about the exhibition and other artistic topics. We wanted to go to the transmission tower at Zobor. We took the bus and arrived to the resort and from there we walked first to the cave of the pilgrim Svorad and then to the tower. We did not think we would do it. But we walked and talked and in one moment we were there. There was also buffet, which was open and three guys were selling coffee and tea. Nice. It was cold and windy. We sat down with coffee and asked the guys if there ever was a Finnish person. They did not know, but asked Niina to sign their visitors’ book.
It was so cold that we soon decided to go down. I had gloves and was happy about it. Down in the town was quite warm and less windy. Niina was learning to pronounce Košice and Levice in the correct way, the help she used were the words “pizza” and “shit”. Hehe.
At home we ordered pizza and started watch Monty Python Holy Grail, because we talked about it on the way. I fell asleep. Crazy. Niina went to pick up her stuff from the gallery and we took the bus to Bratislava.
